Navasota woman who tells police “I’ll smoke dope if I want to” arrested on drug charges

February 28, 2022 by Andre Perrard

A search warrant in an ongoing drug investigation ends with the arrest of a Navasota woman.

The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office says they executed a search warrant in the 2400 block of Barker Prairie Road on Friday night, in relation to a current investigation for narcotics, firearms, and stolen property.

A woman came outside of a camper on site, said it was hers, and advised there was methamphetamine inside. Officers found multiple baggies of meth inside. When the woman asked why she was being arrested, she then said ” I am 51 years old, I will smoke dope if I want to.”

Arrested was 51 year old Malinda Mummey of Navasota, who faces charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1, and remains in jail on bonds totaling $8,000. It is Mummey’s 17th time in jail since 2002.
