The City of Navasota’s “Clean the Creek” week event began Monday morning, as crews started the cleanup of Cedar Creek.
Street and Sanitation director Jose Coronilla says that even amidst the 40 degree temperatures and rain, they got a lot finished on day one.
“We had 11 participants out there, we went out and got backhoes, and equipment…we started at the walls of the bridge by Brosig Street and Brookshire Brothers…we cleaned both sides there. Then, we cleaned the south bank, all the way almost to Stadium Drive. So, we did a pretty good piece out of there,” said Coronilla.
If you want to get in on the action and help beautify the community, you can do so all this week.
“Everyone is invited to come out and help us. We will be there until Friday, 8 am until around 4 pm. We are down the road form the schools, so we are trying to wrap up, really, around 2:30, to avoid the school traffic,” said Coronilla.
“And, you get a free lunch,” added City Manager Jason Weeks. “If you work through lunch, we will provide you with food.”
The Clean The Creek event is ongoing through this Friday, November 18th.
