It’s that time once again when Navasota residents can grow closer with their friends, their neighbors and those whose job it is to keep all of them safe, at this year’s national night out.
Navasota Police Department’s Marla Gurka tells Navasota News the night is a learning experience for all involved. Residents can learn all the ins-and-outs of crime and drug prevention, while the police learn more about the residents’ law enforcement concerns.
In years past, Gurkha says, some residents voiced their concerns about speeders running around their neighborhood and in response; she goes on, the Department heightened patrols in and around that area.
And if you are hosting, she explains, don’t feel pressured to go all out. The national night out is about building close-knit communities, so all you really need is a few lawn chairs and some time.
So if you and your neighbors feel like cooking some weenies, or just feel like just having a sit-down with your cops, you need to register with the department by Friday October 2nd.
