Navasota’s Railroad Street project completion delayed by exposed phone lines

August 13, 2021 by Andre Perrard

For months now, the project on Railroad Street in Navasota has dragged on, with the street still closed at least to motor vehicle traffic. Deadlines have been pushed back through the summer, so…when is it opening back up?

“Hopefully really soon. Staff met with contractors and engineers this week. They are still waiting on a few items to come in. Of course, we are also still waiting on the phone company. CenturyLink has really slow played this project, we are waiting on them to place the lines underground. The city spent the money to put the conduit in for them, but they still have not buried those lines. So, our biggest holdup is CenturyLink,” said Stafford, during the most recent Grilling Stafford episode.

He did not, however, give an estimated date for Railroad Street to open.
