Navasota’s Shop Small Business Giveaway spurs big Holiday injection into local economy

January 12, 2022 by Willy1550

The Navasota Shop Small Business Giveaway campaign brought in a new record number of local shoppers during the holiday season.

“There were over 700 entries, with receipts from 48 local stores, submitted by visitors from 36 different cities. Overall, there were $20,000 worth of entries,” said economic development specialist Rayna Willenbrink at Monday’s city council meeting. “Compare to the previous year, we received around $9,000 and visitors from 18 different cities. So, it doubled from last year to this year.”

And as for the contest winners from turning in all those receipts…

“Dr. Ronnie Gonzalez, and Ariana Randolph, both of Navasota,” Willenbrink said.

She said that the feedback this year was very positive, as well.

Recent data from their contract with the Retail Coach, she added, showed the holiday events in Navasota, the Home For the Holidays parade and Holiday Sip and Shop, brought in over 4000 visitors each from around 40 cities.
