The sidewalk replacement project on Washington Avenue between 8th and 10th street has hit a snag.
At Monday’s city council meeting, Utility Director Jennifer Reyna says after 44 days of little progress, they got an update last Thursday on a big development.
“Staff received an email from KSA Engineering that Green Dream International has terminated their contract with he subcontractor. So, they are reviewing contracts with another one. With hat said…they have all he intention of finishing the project by its completion date of January 12th,” said Reyna.
To help expedite the process of finding a subcontractor to finish the project, the city’s legal counsel, Carey Bovey, has reached out to them.
“Left a long detailed message, urging him to express to his client that they need to get someone in place as soon as possible,” said Bovey. “My dealings with him have been good, I expect him to respond and contact them…but, the message was delivered in great detail, and understands the city’s position.”
Reyna said she will additionally follow up this week, but did not have a timeline for when the project would restart.
