The long awaited improvements of a pedestrian crosswalk and median on Washington Avenue is finally here.
Director of Utilities for the city Jennifer Reyna spoke about the upcoming phases of construction at Monday’s city council meeting, which begin on Monday, March 28th.
“Phase one will be the construction of the left turn lane, from East Washington to North La Salle. Phase two is the pedestrian crosswalk, from Farqhuar Street to Blue’s Alley,” said Reyna. “Street parking will be closed nightly, on East Washington from La Salle to Railroad Street, Sunday through Friday, 7 pm until 7 am, until the project is complete.”
She says all the project phases should be complete in 8 to 12 weeks.
Before construction starts though, if you are a business owner on Washington Avenue, a meeting will be held tonight, where you can ask about any concerns.
“We will have staff, Fuqua Construction, and their representatives, on Monday, March 21st,” Reyna said.
Once again, construction begins on Monday, March 28th. The public construction meeting will be held at 6 pm Monday, March 21st at City Council Chambers.
