One of Navasota’s busier and longer streets, Neal Street, has been subject of complaints from citizen’s, just for road conditions and potholes, but there is plenty underneath the ground that needs to be replaced utility wise as well. So, is it getting fixed?
Yes, says City Manager Brad Stafford.
“That is one of our Capital Improvement Project streets, it is in the engineering phase right now. Of course, that is a large project, so it has taken awhile, and there is a lot of work that goes into that, replacement of utility mains. We are working on that,” said Stafford, during the most recent Grilling Stafford episode. “We do have our street crews taking to keep up with patching until that gets taken care of, and I know that is not what everyone wants to hear, that patches are coming. But, we continue to patch.”
He says Streets and Sanitation Director Jose Coronilla’s crews are trying to stay ahead of the curve, but it has been hard this year.
“The rain we have encountered this Spring has really taken a toll on streets,” Stafford noted. “So, his crew has a lot of work to do.”
There was no timetable given for Neal Street work to begin.
