New bill allows carry of brass knuckles effective September 1st

May 29, 2019 by Willy1550

The State of Texas has expanded its carry laws to some new weapons.

House Bill 446, known as the “self-defense bill,” was signed off on by Governor Greg Abbott yesterday. Starting September 1, it will be legal to carry brass knuckles, clubs and self-defense wild kat key chains, also known as kitty key chains.

The bill says that anyone who committed, or commits, an offense by carrying one of the weapons before the law change on September 1st will still be held accountable for committing a crime

The offense is punishable by up to one year in jail or up to $4,000 in fines.
