New bookstore opens in Navasota

August 3, 2018 by Willy1550

Anyone who has traveled Navasota’s Washington Avenue lately can tell by the awning there is a new bookstore going in across from the Classic Rock Coffee Company. Owner Suzie Linnenbank says she got the idea from the Kansas City Library, who’s entire exterior is painted to look like books.

She says she is calling her store “Muddy Water” because, after all, Navasota is the blues capital of Texas.

Linnenbank tells Navasota News that she has been looking for the perfect location for her dream store for the better part of 30 years. Now, the dream is a reality. The store opened Friday August 3rd with a Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting at 11:30 am.

Linnenbank says there will be lots of seating, if you would like to just plop down and read. But also, it will be available for multi-purpose things such as meetings.

The Muddy Water Bookstore will offer a wide variety of genres, Linnenbank promises, including a kids corner right up front. Eighty percent of the books in stock will be used and patrons are urged to bring their own used books in to donate for store credit.
