New Elections Administrator tabbed for Grimes County

December 27, 2022 by Willy1550

Grimes County has named it’s newest Election’s Administrator.

“I want to introduce Mrs. Rachel Walker, she has been hired by our selection committee, which consisted of Evelyn Ward (Grimes County Democratic Party Chair), Susan Patrick (Grimes County Republican Party Chair), Mary Ann Waters (Tax-Assessor Collector), Vanessa Burzynski (County Clerk), and myself, County Judge Joe Fauth,” said Fauth at the most recent meeting of Commissioner’s Court.

Rachel Walker was hired as the former admin, Lucy Ybarra, takes her new role as the Executive Director of the Grimes County Chamber of Commerce.

Fauth noted, since it is a quick turnaround, Ybarra will be still working with the elections office a bit until Walker is settled.

“She is going to get a crash course in being an election administrator this week. It is my understanding, the goodness of the Board of Directors for the Chamber of Commerce has given permission to [Lucy Ybarra] to step in and out, make a few phone calls, all as [Rachel Walker] adjusts to this new role,” said Fauth

Ybarra takes over the Chamber of Commerce for Johnny McNally, who announced his retirement last month.
