A new state law that goes into effect on September 1st will take students out of the classroom who are found vaping.
House Bill 114 by State Representative Ed Thompson of Brazoria County will send any student selling, giving, or using a vape product or e-cigarette within 300 feet of any school property to the discipline alternative education program, a step above detention and a step below suspension. Under the law, there will no longer be school discretion on the issue.
