Navasota residents now have new payment options and services they can take advantage of when paying their utility bill. The city’s finance director told City Council it’s all thanks to a recent software upgrade by the provider of the city’s kiosk services.
Lance Hall reported that part of the upgrade allows you to put your cellphone number in when you make your payment. And when you do, it’ll send you a reminder when your payment is due and also allow you to pay from your cellphone.
He told Council local folks seem to like the job that Ad Com is doing, because the number of people taking advantage of the City Hall kiosk to pay their bills is growing.
Since January, Hall said they’ve had 74 payments through cellphones and registered 837 cellphone numbers through the kiosk. And Ad Com is also working on a web portal.
He reported an average of 10 folks a day use the kiosk for their payments, with maybe 50 doing so on an average weekend. Following Easter Weekend, Hall said he found that 95 payments had been made.
Right now, he admitted, there are limitations on who can sign up. The only way you can get it, he explained, is to pay through the kiosk, so just pay through it one time to sign up. Afterwards, he explained, they’ll send you notices.
Hall also cautioned that right now the only kiosk where payments may be made is inside the foyer on the Holland Street side of Navasota City Hall. The one inside the Visitors Center won’t work for that.
