September 2, 2020 by Willy1550

A woman wanted for arson in New Orleans has been arrested in Huntsville.

According to the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal on Twitter, they said 25 year old Jazzlyn Major of New Orleans was arrested Tuesday afternoon.

New Orleans Fire Department says Major set fire to an apartment building in the city Monday night, which displaced more than two dozen residents. A total of 26 residents were present at the time of the fire, with no human casualties. However, one resident’s dog did perish in the fire.

Assisting in the arrest was Huntsville PD, Texas DPS and the Texas Inspector General’s Office, alongside New Orleans authorities.

Major, pending an extradition hearing, will be transported to Orleans Parish to be officially booked in the case, according to the press release.

She faces 26 counts of aggravated arson.
