At last Wednesday’s meeting of Commissioner’s Court, Grimes County Emergency Management Services Coordinator, David Lilly, gave an update concerning the Iola Volunteer Fire Department.
Commissioners voted to approve the amendment to the 2022-23 contract with the Iola VFD to increase them from a tier 1 to a tier 4 payment level, effective as of June 1st, 2023.
Also at that meeting on Wednesday, Mr. Lilly talked about the Bedias VFD and their need to replace five two-way radios and purchase an additional five.
Commissioner Phillip Cox asked if they would be able to get the new radios immediately and Lilly said yes.
The 5 replacement radios will come out of this year’s Bedias VFD budget. Commissioners approved the purchase of the additional 5 radios for the Bedias VFD, those funds will come out of next year’s budget.
