The Pecan Lakes subdivision is getting a new access road for residents.
Development Services Director Guadalupe Diosdado presented a variance request at Monday’s city council meeting for a collector road.
“Our requirements call for a 38 foot width pavement, leaving significant travel lanes, as well as sidewalks on both sides. Previously, when Phase 3 was adopted, there was a lot of talk about sidewalks, and at the time, it was a more of a verbal agreement that in lieu of sidewalks on most of the Phase 3 project, that eventually a roadway would be constructed,” said Diosdado.
Diosdado noted the streets, whiteout the sidewalks, would be a little narrower than usual, to help deter speeding in the neighborhood.
And overall, it will help the folks there, especially once Phase 3 is complete.
“This street is just a great addition for the subdivision. It is not a requirement, but based on previous conversations, this variance request has been summitted,” said Diosdado.
Council approved that variance change, to allow for the construction of Pecan Lakes Drive in the neighborhood.
