New SCADA system allows Navasota residents to track water usage

March 16, 2021 by Willy1550

The City of Navasota’s updated SCADA System for the water has made life easier for city staff, and residents alike, as residents can actually track their water usage, and get estimated bills.

But, a citizen asked recently on Grilling Stafford why their chart was showing inconsistent readings on different days. So, how does it all work? City Manager Brad Stafford explained.

“They update every four hours, and, everyone has to remember, these meters read in 100 gallons. So, it is not going to show every gallon, it measures every gallon, but it only registers at 100,” said Stafford.

He added that it measures and reads every 100 gallons, instead of every gallon, to keep peoples minds at ease.

“If you did every gallon, I think some people would freak out, because it would show constant usage. It does not take much to get a gallon, just flushing your toilet, and things like that. So, it is 100 gallons, because that is what we bill on,” Stafford said.
