For the first time in six years, a Navasota High School senior has scored a PSAT high enough to receive a National Merit Scholarship Commendation.
Plantersville resident Eli Chilton says he actually took the test last year and confirms his score was abnormally high; in the top 1%, akin, he says to an SAT score of 1420. and he attributes his academic excellence to the fact that both of his parents teach.
With a dad who teaches history English, he says there were always lots of books around, so he did a lot of reading, so much so there was a time where he was checking out . . . and reading . . . two books a day.
But after eight years or so, Chilton says he’s backed away from what he admits was an insane amount of reading.
After graduation next year Chilton tells Navasota News he plans to study Radio, TV and Film at the University of Austin. and this commendation should help make it easier financially on both his parents and himself to afford college, if all goes well.
Well everything else seems to have, for this Navasota High School Senior who celebrated his 18th birthday earlier this month. Best of luck, Eli. Happy Birthday and congratulations from Navasota News.
