Following overwhelming community support at a recent Rattle Session, the Navasota School Board formerly approved allowing concealed carry weapons on campus.
Superintendent Dr. Stu Musick reports that with approval of the so-called “Guardian Plan,” after applications from district personnel with Conceal Carry Licences are approved, there’ll be training through the summer, with the program being implemented with the start of the new school year next August.
But for now, Musick says they’ll be getting the word out to those who might be interested, but the identities of however many applicants are eventually approved and their locations will be considered confidential for security purposes.
The board also approved moving a couple of programs from the Navasota Education and Learning Center (or “NELC”), to enable contractors to complete their pending facilities work over the summer.
Dr. Musick tells Navasota News that the board also approved a plan whereby all NISD employees will begin receiving automatic step raises next year.
