It’s official. The Navasota School District will hold a two-proposition bond election this fall. Proposition A authorizes issuing $55,000,o00 in bonds to renovate district facilities. Proposition B generates another $6,000,000 over the next nine years by transfering three maintainence notes into debt.
Following a unanimous vote, board member Jennifer Ramirez said she’s excited, giving credit to the incredible community support that went into the bond’s crafting.
Board President Greg Mock reminded those in attendance that the vote now puts the board in a different role. He explained that all the board can do now is to give out facts about the bond, but they cannot be the advocates for it that they really are. They are now going to have to depend upon the community to get out and get it done.
Then following deliberations behind closed doors, Superintendent Stu Musick announced new staff members the board had approved.
Ms Bethany Herrington will be a new teacher at the Navasota Junior High, Ms Tiffany Thomas will be a new teacher at Navasota Junior High, and Mr. Derick Hadley will be a dual-contract teacher/coach at Navasota Junior High.
They’ll all begin their tenure at the NISD when classes open for the fall semester bright and early Tuesday morning, the 29th, as concerns over possible effects of Hurricane Harvey caused the start of fall classes to be postponed a day.
