The good education news is that four of the Navasota Independent School District’s six campuses passed recent state muster. The bad news is the Bizzell Academy and former Intermediate School, now Brule Elementary, fell short.
Superintendent Rory Gesch tells Navasota News, these reports are from prior class years. Adding, Bizzell was at least two to three times above the state’s requirement in three of the four categories, but missed its mark when it came to college and career readiness. Gesch attributes this to recent changes in the states standard requirements.
As for the newly minted Brule Elementary, he continues, the district is waiting on direction from the TEA regarding the schools rating since the school that was graded, doesn’t really exist anymore.
The district has seen several changes of late, he says, adding that fixing our schools will not happen overnight. Gesch says both teachers and staff have been working really hard to meet the challenge, and promises that with community involvement, the NISD will pull through for our kids.
