A week before this year’s Rattler Graduates received their diplomas at Texas A&M Friday May 27th, one of them was whisked away to fulfill his dying mother’s wish to watch him graduate.
After the school board’s Valerie Jefferson became aware of Quincy Dubose’s situation, she called both Superintendent Rory Gesch and High School Principal Derrik Bowman, who sprang into action and took Dubose to see his mother is Missouri City.
And though it is a tragic situation, Gesch tells Navasota News it was also a chance to do a good deed and watch a family gather around to celebrate one of their own’s accomplishments.
Unfortunately, he says, Dubose’s mom did pass shortly afterwards, and Quincy is back in Navasota, and walked across the Rudder Auditorium stage to once again graduate.
And because few can imagine what this young man is going through, Gesch asks the entire community to join together in praying for this young Rattler in his time of need.
