With residents of the Navasota Independent School District still reeling from the resignation of Athletic Director Lee Fedora, following on the heels of the departure of the district’s former grant writer Dr. Dawn-Marie Baletka, there’s now another cloud that’ll be hanging over the district’s head through spring break.
In what’s known in journalistic parlance as a “Friday Night News Dump,” the district released the following statement at 5:26 last Friday evening.
Quote: Navasota ISD can confirm that the district received a report of improper conduct by a high school teacher today. That employee has been placed on leave for unprofessional conduct and violations of school policy. The matter was referred to law enforcement.
Both the district and police investigations are on-going. Navasota isd will take any further measures that it believes are necessary. As always, the education and well-being of our students is our priority and the district appreciates the continued support of the community.
End of quote.
Without identifying either individual, Navasota Police Chief Justin Leeth confirms to Navasota News that the district did ask his department to look into suspicious behavior between a student and a teacher. He says it was determined not to be a criminal matter, and has been referred back to the district for further action.
Navasota news is closely following this story and let you know of any further developments just as soon as they become available.
