No Further Delay on 105 Rebuild

November 4, 2017 by Willy1550

It looks like the effect of Harvey’s rain and flooding isn’t going to have any significant impact on TxDOT’s completion of their rebuild of Highway 105 west of Navasota into Washington County after all.

There are a total of three new river crossings involved in the project, necessitated by erosion of the current bridges there.  TxDOT’s Bobby Colwell says the bridge that’s furthest west, across the Brazos River, is the one TxDOT’s been concerned about since last year’s floods.

And even with concerns about the bridges, the engineers are focusing their attention on the road itself, because it will be new as well.  A roadway that, even after Harvey, Colwell tells Navasota News, is still expected to be complete sometime next year.

That is, of course, if we don’t have any May floods, or any more hurricanes.  The bad thing, Colwell continues, is that only Mother Nature knows what’s going on with the weather.  But you can be sure that whatever is going on with the weather, or with the 105 rebuild, or with anything else going on in the County of Grimes, it’s going right here on Navasota News.
