Multiple fires in Grimes County this week keep crews busy as burn ban continues

June 27, 2022 by Andre Perrard

Grimes County Emergency Crews stayed busy on Monday, as they responded to three different fires across the area.

Two large fires were reported near Plantersville. The first happened before noon, on County Road 203. That fire burned about one acre, before crews got called to another fire one mile down the road.

There, a citizen began burning a pile, and it quickly spread out of control, burning 10 acres. Crews worked, with some assistance of the rain, to contain the fire.

Later in the day, around 8 pm, another wildfire was reported near Anderson, after a lightning strike from nearby storms.

On Tuesday, a Uhaul truck on County Road 447 was reported to be ablaze. Crews worked quickly to extinguish that fire, with no reported injures. No word on what caused that fire either.

A reminder, Grimes County is under a burn ban. If caught burning illegally, you could face $500 fines.
