A two vehicle accident in Navasota Monday afternoon claimed the life of a Washington County woman.
That happened around 1:30 pm in the 100 block of East Washington Avenue, according to Navasota Police Chief Shawn Myatt. A Nissan travelling eastbound collided with a Ford F-250 travelling westbound.
“Best we can determine, is that the Nissan, for whatever reason, we are still investigating that now, left the eastbound traffic, crossed over the turn lane, and went into the Westbound lane of traffic, having a head-on collision with the F-250,” said Myatt.
Myatt said that the driver of the Ford, identified as 59 year old Steve Austin of Navasota, was taken to CHI St. Joseph with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver in the Nissan, 25 year old Jullian Book of Washington County, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“We do believe there is some more information involved in this, that is a contributing factor that created the accident. But, right now, we are waiting for all of our reports to get back in, the completion of the investigation, and also the autopsy report,” Myatt said.
There were no other passengers in either car, and no other injuries were reported.
Navasota Police’s investigation of the accident is ongoing, with no further information released.
