OSHA fines leveled against local feed store once again

May 23, 2019 by Willy1550

A Navasota company has received more OSHA violations and fines for the third time in five years.

Tomas Moore Feed has been fined more than $60,000 by OSHA, after they found reason to issue seven citations during a November inspection. Two are classified as serious, three are repeat offenses and two are classified as other.

The company has had two past violations, ranging back about 4 years. In 2014, they were ordered to pay around $34,000 for around 18 violations. In 2017, OSHA laid the hammer down to the tune of $92,000 in fines for serious and repeat violations, of which the company was ordered to pay more than $46,000.

The newest citations state that employees were exposed to fall hazards, electrical hazards and the employees were exposed to life-threatening work conditions. Also in the violations was a report that an employee cut off a tip of his finger last August, which the company failed to report immediately, according to OSHA.

Owner Matt Moore told KBTX-TV that they did not report it because of a new law of which they were unaware.

Moore says the company is committed to the safety of its employees.
