Over 600 free backpacks, school supplies handed out at Grimes County Back to School Drive

August 5, 2021 by Willy1550

The Grimes County Back to School Drive was held this week, as the kids get ready to open the books for another school year. And Commissioner Barbara Walker, at Wednesday meeting of Commissioner’s Court, thanked everyone involved for another overwhelmingly successful event this year.

“A special thanks to the citizen’s, this commissioner’s Court, the donors and sponsors. Want to give a special thanks to David Lilly for having the vaccination clinic going at the same time, we appreciate the effort you made to get that going,” said Walker.

“We just want to thank you all for a total of over 600 backpacks that were distributed. We did not run out of any, and the families attending greatly appreciated it.”

School starts in Grimes County over the next three weeks.
