Needy individuals and families in the County of Grimes have given thanks for Navasota’s Christian Community Services Food Pantry for a quarter century now, and lately, its headquarters have started to look like it.
Volunteer Director Patricia Gaston tells Navasota News neither this year’s heavy rains nor subsequent triple-digit heat-wave have done the building any favors, admitting that the community-driven center could really use some help fixing up the place and filling the its holds with food.
Gaston says, donations always seem to dry up during the summer. So, to keep up with local needs, she has had to buy food from the Brazos Valley Food Bank. But Gaston smiles, the residents of grimes county have always managed come together, when in need.
The Christian Community Services Food Pantry is always looking for donations and you can drop them off at 814 North LaSalle. For more information, or more ways you can help, call 936-825-7459 from 9 to noon.
