A 12-year-old Plantersville Native received high honors last week at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Little Landon Stem was awarded the title of Grand Champion in the open show, exhibiting his breeding cow, Desi.
His understandably proud mom, Grimes County Road and Bridge’s Patty Stem, says this is just the latest win in a recent round of her son’s victories with his beloved breeder.
While Desi and her son didn’t place in the Supremes, Stem tells Navasota News it was still an honor for her boy just to have the chance to face-off with some of the best Texas has to offer.
And for all his troubles, she says, he came home with plenty of loot including some money, new Buckles and more.
Adding all that to her son’s other Stockshow winnings, stem smiles, the young cattleman has a good pool of scholarships to lean on when it comes time for college.
But in the meantime, she adds, it’s back to life on the family land that helped him get to where he is today.
We at Navasota News congratulate Plantersville’s Landon Stem on his latest victory in Houston. And we’ll have news for you from other local competitors at the stock show as they return, right here on Navasota News.
