A Brazos County district court jury has convicted and sentenced a Bryan man to prison for repeated sexual attacks of a seven year old girl.

66 year old Filemon Herrera was found guilty of abusing the child three times between August 2011 and July 2012.

The jury deliberated four hours before returning the verdict, then took 45 minutes in the punishment phase.

Herrera was ordered to serve 45 years. He is not eligible for parole.

The minimum sentence was 25 years. Herrera asked for 35 years and prosecutors sought life in prison.
