The Navasota Rattlers didn’t win their season opener against Navarro on Friday August 25th, but one of the plays has become a social media viral video with over 800k views on Instagram alone.
A pass, intended for a Rattler wide receiver, was overthrown, ricocheted off an official’s head and was picked off by a Navarro defender. That pick was returned over 50 yards.
Since officials are considered a part of the playing field, and the ball never touched the ground, the play was legal.
Navasota went on to lose 34-8, but will look to rebound in their home opener at Rattler Stadium against Madisonville this Friday night.
