A tragedy between the Rent-A-Ruminant goats and a dog in Navasota have spurred a reminder to citizen’s about keeping their dogs contained at home.
“That is the responsibility of the dog owner. The goats were secured, in their pin. The dogs are int he pound, in the doggy jail. The owner has been issued citations. That will go through municipal court, hopefully soon, so we can determine what happens from this point forward,” said City Manager Brad Stafford during a recent episode of Grilling Stafford.
He says they have been in talks with Rent-A-Ruminant since the incident.
“Sometimes things happen…we are int he city limits, and animals can get loose. We had an unfortunate incident where some dogs got loose, they did injure the goat, and the goat did pass. Rent-A-Ruminant is understanding, they understand those things happen,” said Stafford.
The city reminds folks to not interact with the goats, do not feed them, and do not go beyond the electrified fencing. Citizen’s are welcome to observe the goats, though.
