A few months back, Navasota city council approved some fixes for the Navasota Fire Station. And those fixes, from roof repair to mold remediation, have been completed, according to Navasota City Manager Brad Stafford.
“We still probably need a new station. But, that is going to get us by for a little while, and improve the conditions for the firefighters while they are in there,” said Stafford.
As he mentioned, there are needs for a potential new fire station in town due to growth in recent years, especially on the West side of the city. He said it is something that city staff discuss often.
“There are a lot of factors involved, too. One of them would be if we could come up with a grade separation of the railroad tracks, that would help. But, we still may need to do something out there. It is something that we are talking about, looking at, and definitely evaluating for the future,” Stafford said.
The current Navasota Fire Station on Washington remains fully operational.
