Report states that alcohol, speeding led to fatal 2017 crash

October 1, 2019 by Andre Perrard

A grand jury last Thursday indicted a driver on charges related to a deadly 2017 single-vehicle crash that killed a Grimes County man.

54 year old Edward Molitor of Bedias is facing Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault charges, according to the Grimes County District Attorney’s Office.

The DPS report states that unsafe speed ad the driver being under the influence of alcohol, and prosecutors say they were contributing factors to the crash.

The crash happened on September 22nd of 2017 about two miles North of Bedias on FM 1696. The crash killed 29 year old Lloyd Courtney of Bedias, after the car flipped and Courtney was ejected from the vehicle.

Molitor awaits sentencing.
