Folks in the southern portions of the county have been asking about the extension of Pinebrook Drive and hooking it into Highway 249. So, when is that happening?
County Road and Bridge Engineer Harry Walker says they purchased the land in December, but it is still a long road ahead, no pun intended…
“It is under design right now, construction probably will not get started before summer,” said Walker. “Design process takes awhile…plus, you do not wat to try and build the road during winter.”
In his road and bridge update as well, Walker mentioned the various other neighborhoods being constructed outside the Navasota City Limits. He says the state of the economy has tempered some builder expectations.
“I have been told by a local developer, he has taken back expectations of what he would accomplish this year. He had been hoping to put about 100 homes on the ground, and has about tcut that i half,” said Walker. “It is still a substantial number of homes…it is just cooled down with the rising mortgage rates.”
Walker said while things have calmed down a bit, he expects another uptick in the springtime.
