Sales Tax Revenues rise in Navasota even as COVID-19 pandemic shut down businesses

September 25, 2020 by Willy1550

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, it may be expected that sales tax revenues may drop off in Navasota. However, that was the opposite case this year, according to Navasota City manager Brad Stafford.

“The really neat part, which we talked about during our workshops, was that our sales tax returns in Navasota have been up the last couple months. We did not see a decline, which was really a positive when we were putting together our budget. We did not predict there would be a deficit or lower returns on that…we have a positive outlook, and we think it is only going to improve as we get a few more of these businesses opened up,” said Stafford.

Navasota City Council will meet to approve their budget for the next fiscal year this coming Monday, September 28th.
