On July 12, 2014 at approximately 1207 hrs, the College Station Police Department received a report of a major crash in the intersection of Tarrow St and University Drive East involving two vehicles, one of which was overturned as a result of the crash.
Upon arrival officers determined that the entire roadway on westbound University Drive needed to be shut down in the 800 Block of University and traffic was diverted through the parking lot of the Hilton. Traffic was shut down to one lane on University Drive Eastbound at Tarrow St.
Initial investigation at the scene revealed that the crash involved a total of two vehicles and that the following events took place.
A 2014 Nissan Rogue driven by a 23 year old San Antonio woman was northbound on Tarrow Street at the light preparing to make a left hand turn onto University Drive E to go westbound on University Drive E.
A 2006 Kia Optima driven by a 32 year old College Station woman was traveling eastbound on University Drive E and ran the red light at the intersection of Tarrow St. and University Drive E.
The driver of the Nissan Rogue had a green light to turn left and was moving into the intersection when the driver of the Kia ran the red light.
The two vehicles collided in the intersection and the Nissan Rogue was rolled over as a result of the collision. The 2014 Nissan Rogue also had a 12 year old male passenger.
The driver of the Nissan Rogue had to be extracted from the vehicle by the College Station Fire Department as a result of the damage to the vehicle.
All parties involved in the crash were transported to a local medical facility for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries.
