Grimes County residents are being advised of a phone scam.
A post made from the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page says,
“Please be aware we have received several phone calls today regarding a scam.
Callers advised they received phone calls from individuals who identified themselves as employees who work for Grimes County Sheriff’s Office.
The scammers are advising that a warrant has been issued for failure to report to jury duty. Scammers are demanding money be sent to them for the warrant. Another message was left and scammer asked to be contacted in regard to a legal matter.”
The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office will NOT make these calls and ask for money over the phone. If you receive a call of this nature, you are asked to report it to the Grimes Co. Sheriff’s Office at 936-873-2151.
