One Grimes County Girl Scout troop just found a new trick, as a couple of dozen costume-bedecked members spent Halloween treating the residents of Navasota’s Golden Creek Nursing Home.
Troop 9061 Leader Trina Wenzel says they’ve going over there for Christmas for the last three or four years to Christmas Carol. We wanted to do another holiday, and Halloween sounded good.
She says they all enjoyed both the goodies in the Goodie Bags and the colorful outfits that her girls had donned for the occasion. And beforehand, she adds, the girls thoughtfully filled those bags with their recipients in mind.
Welzel tells Navasota News gifting Golden Creek’s Residents took her Scouts about an hour. And because there were nearly 80 residents, she says they made 85 or 86 bags to make sure we had plenty. The rest of the bags, she goes on, were given to the staff and anybody that they may have missed.
Besides having four-fifths of her troop take part, Welzel says she also enjoyed seeing all the residents smile, and admits that Grimes County Girl Scout Troop 9061 may have just begun a brand new tradition.
