Serial Pedifile Sentenced to Life

April 28, 2018 by Willy1550

A 42-year-old Grimes County man will spend the rest of his life behind bars, after a Grimes County jury found him guilty of Continuous Sexual Assault of a Young Child. . . . for the second time.

Assistant Grimes County District Attorney Jo Ann Linzer says Shannon Singleton’s first victim was only nine.  He was put on Differed Adjudication for 5 years in Houston in 2003.  It was a child who was his girlfriend at the time’s daughter.  Then about ten years later, she adds, he found his next victim, who was only seven.

She says it happened when he got into another relationship, got access to another child, and committed another offense.

Singleton’s second known victim underwent his abuse for a year and a half before speaking out, Linzer reports, which finally brought the matter before Judge Albert McCaig in the 506th District Court where she feels the jury did a very good job, sending a message that it’s not tolerated in our county and he doesn’t need to be around kids at all, ever.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” Linzer told the jury as they were about to deliberate Singleton’s sentence,”You hold the power to decide how long these victims don’t have to look their shoulders in fear.”

The decision to impose life without the possibility of parole took the jury of four Grimes County men and eight women, about an hour.
