Setting sewer rates for next year in Navasota will not include billing data from Winter Storm Uri

March 25, 2021 by Willy1550

The City of Navasota’s sewer & water rates for residents is usually set yearly by averaging the water usage for the months of December, January and February. But, thanks to Winter Storm Uri in February this year and numerous water leaks, is the city going to use that data when establishing rates for next year?

City Manager Brad Stafford says there is no need to panic.

“We have already taken care of that. We will actually be using February from last year, instead of this February. Because that will be a more accurate number of what people would be using. So, we are already taking care of that, so they do not need to worry. But, it probably will not end up being a lot different than what it was last year for them,” Stafford said.

The City of Navasota is offering billing assistance, for those facing high water bills due to the freeze.

You can establish 6 month contracts for paying it, and late fees will not be charged for the months of March and April. However, you must visit city hall, and speak with them, to establish one of these assistance plans.
