Grimes County now has its own Sexual Assault Response Team.
The Sexual Assault Resource Center of the Brazos Valley’s Lindsey LeBlanc was at a recent Grimes County Commissioner’s Court meeting to present the resolution, which is now law.
“This is following state mandate that came out September 1st, to have this in place by December 1st. So, the representatives here are the state minimums. The presiding officer would be me, Lindsey LeBlanc, as the Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC) will facilitate the meetings…this is just formalizing it all with the court,” said LeBlanc at the December 1st meeting.
The remaining members, alongside LeBlanc, will be Navasota Police Chief Shawn Myatt, Grimes County District Attorney Andria Bender, Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell, Sexual Assault Nurse Nikki Johnson, and Director of Behavioral Health Operations of the MHRN Authority of the Brazos Valley Robert Reed.
The Commissioners approved the proclamation, and formation of the Sexual Assault Response Team in Grimes County.
