Severe storm outbreak produces Brazos Valley tornados, Iola ISD cancels classes Tuesday due to power outage

March 22, 2022 by Andre Perrard

Storms from the tornado outbreak last night produced damage in the Brazos Valley.

In Grimes County, no major reports of damage, but Iola ISD canceled classes for today due to a loss of power in the area, as a strong storm swept through last night.

A reported tornado from that same cell was the suspect of a load of damage near Madisonville, in a storm that was tornado warned from near Smithville all the way up to Shreveport, Louisiana.

The town of Granger also saw major damage from a suspected tornado, and out west, the town of Elgin reported major home damage, and Jacksboro reported major damage to homes and the High School.

National Weather Service meteorologists will conduct surveys on damage in the area throughout the week.
