According to press releases from the City of Navasota, on Saturday, June 1st, at approximately 7:05 a.m., Navasota Police Officers responded to a convenience store located at the 8700 block of Highway 6 for a report of shots fired. Officers arrived on scene and quickly placed male subject in custody. Officers located a deceased dog in the parking lot. The male taken into custody was identified as Joshua Land, age 29, of Waller, TX. Mr. Land is charged with animal cruelty, deadly conduct, disorderly conduct, and possession of marijuana.
While Investigators were working on determining the reasoning behind the shooting and killing of one animal, at approximately 8:30 a.m., a second incident took place in a convenience store parking lot located in the 9300 block of Highway 90.
While officers were investigating the shooting, they heard a loud commotion and observed two subjects starting to engage in a physical altercation. Officers arrived on scene and found that no one was physically assaulted.
One male was identified as Jordan Howard, age 33, out of Angleton, TX. Mr. Howard was found to have an outstanding warrant for probation violation – assault to elderly or child. Mr. Howard was booked into the Grimes County Jail for the warrant and charged with possession of marijuana.
