Single-Digit Voter Enthusiasm

May 13, 2017 by Willy1550

Less than five percent of Grimes County voters took part in the May 6th Election, 92 of which overwhelmingly approved making Plantersville the county’s sixth incorporated city by a three-to-one margin.

Here in Navasota, Amy Jarvis was given her second term at Position Five on the school board by 51 and a half percent to Carl Spellman Sr’s 48 and a half.  And voters chose Tim J. Harris to fill the vacant Position Four.

Harris garnered 55 percent of the total vote.  Tony Lambert was second with 33 percent, and Dan Arnold third with 12 percent.

In the County Seat of Anderson, both alderman candidates Carol Love Debose and Harold J. Minor were victorious, garnering 66 and 30 percent of the vote, respectively, against Lee Arnold, who managed a little more than four percent.

And up in Iola, more than 90 percent of voters agreed to renew the city’s sales tax.
