Smoke seen in Grimes County last weekend due to prescribed burn, according to US Forest Service

March 8, 2021 by Andre Perrard

If you saw smoke to the East this weekend, that was due to a prescribed burn out in the Sam Houston National Forest.

That burn pushed some thick smoke into many parts of Grimes County, but there were no reports of any fires in Grimes County itself.

That prescribed burn, according to the US Forest Service, was 2,600 acres in size on Forest Service Road 219, south of FM 149 near the Grimes County line.

Smoke was seen across Grimes County, into Brazos County, before clearing out on Sunday afternoon.
