Sam Houston State University has narrowed down their list for University president.
Chancellor Brian McCall announced this week that he has named Alisa White the sole finalist for the position. White is the current president of Austin Peay University in Tennessee. She is a Texas native who was selected out of 120 candidates.
She has a PhD in mass communication and Masters degree from the University of Tennessee, and a Bachelors degree from Lee College. She has also held leadership positions in Alaska, Louisiana and Georgia.
If confirmed, White will become the 14th president of Sam Houston State University. She would take over for current president Dana Hoyt, who is retiring after 10 years in the position.
