Speed limit change coming to portion of FM 1227 in south Navasota

January 26, 2021 by Andre Perrard

A new speed limit change is coming to Navasota, at least in one area of town.

“This is a very short portion of FM 1227, within the city limits. Between the city limits on the very south end of town, and FM 379, right in front of Grant Prideco. TXDOT did a study, and recommend lowering the speed limit from 60 miles per hour to 55 miles per hour,” said City Manager Brad Stafford at Monday’s City Council meeting.

Council ultimately approved that change, and Stafford added that another one is coming soon.

“One you are going to get next council meeting will affect FM 379,” Stafford said.

Speed limits in the aforementioned area will change from 60 miles per hour to 55 miles per hour, but not date was mentioned for when it exactly takes effect, or when signs will be replaced.
