Starbucks “Hits Curb” With Navasota Expansion

February 12, 2024 by Willy1550

At the most recent Navasota Planning & Zoning Commission meeting, Developer Vaquero Navasota Partners, LP, presented the site plans for Starbucks, which is planned to go on Hwy 105 East between Jack In The Box and Chicken Express.

On August 2nd, 2023, the developer went before the City’s Zoning Board of Adjustments and was granted a variance for the drive-thru window to face Hwy 105, to allow for increased vehicle stacking, lowering the chance of stacking overflow onto adjacent properties or roadways.

At the meeting, Connie Clements, who is also Chair of the Zoning Board of Adjustments, spoke during the open comments section regarding safety concerns about the drive-thru configuration of neighboring business Jack In The Box.

There was much discussion regarding “rollover curbs” being constructed as opposed to standard 6-inch curbs to allow for any emergency exit from the drive-thru if needed.

Vaquero Project Engineer, Kevin Dew, responded.

The Preliminary site plan was approved with the condition of rollover curbs for the entirety of the outer drive-thru lane.
